Chris Britton

Chris was born in London and studied flute and bassoon at the Royal College of Music, London, before graduating in music and German at Birmingham University. He then worked as a freelance orchestral flautist, including with the BBC. His teachers have included Graham Mayger, Delia Ruhm, Peter Lloyd and Atarah Ben-Tovim, and (in masterclasses) James Galway, Susan Milan, Philippa Davies, Judith Hall and Peter-Lukas Graf.

Chris now lives in Oxford and has taught the flute and recorder full-time for 25 years in the area, both for the County Music Service and in independent schools. He now teaches only privately, preferring to focus on his playing and on creating musical arrangements. He is a regular performer in very diverse situations: in orchestras, as a soloist, and with a variety of groups, including the Pavlova Wind Quintet, with the guitarist Raymond Burley, and of course Serendipity, which was the result of a chance encounter with Rey in a recorder group, and with Keith as a fellow teacher at two Oxford schools!
